Doug Kershaw

I discovered this on the Youtube tonight. Now I grew up in Louisiana and for that reason Doug Kershaw is to me a mythic figure. I do know it is the true misfortune of many people, not blessed to be of Southern ancestry, to not know who or what Doug Kershaw is; well he's one of the finest musicians to ever live, and more than that, he is a Cajun musician. He has a feel for music, a touch for music, that is sublime. Doug Kershaw, one of the very best. Here he is playing our national anthem.

Judge Sotomayor Openly Racist

Hey, she has no bias, right? Do you think that she thinks that European males are less of a person than she is? Are blond headed people stupid to her? Would she rule fairly if a nice Irish lad had a case in her court?

News Flash, The World is Officially Insane Now!

I threaten, and often, to rip out the cable. Television has descended way past being the great wasteland, it now pours no talent, know-nothing, and relativistic perversions, into my home every time it opens that gaping eye.

Now, the History Channel, rarely does history, more political leftist propaganda, the assorted garden and house channels seem to think it is their mission to support all non normal lifestyles. It has all become such a bore and great waste of time. Even The Weather Channel, has now gone political, a shame as I used to enjoy their meteorological morning offerings along with my coffee, not any more.

Was it the Discovery Channel that I saw an advertisement on a new show about two homosexual men that have adopted a large number of children. Now, is that a good idea?

I will not even mention the deplorable state of the news channels. Most are just socialist, Europhobic, mutual admiration societies, even the 'fair and balanced' Fox News seems to be quite happy serving up a diet of newsack composed of sex, violence, garish talking headettes, and also to be at war with traditional America.

This means I am left to watch the Speed Channel, the movie channel that shows old films without commercials, I forget which one it is, and the Science Fiction channel when they have a Star Trek episode.

I have not done the deed yet, but I am threatening once again, to cut the cable.

The Duggars and Formula 1

Now I do not know what this says about me... but my favourite TV shows are Formula 1 (Live on Speed Vision) and the Duggar's (that is the lovely Arkansas family with 18 kids). I don't like nor watch much television, but those two things I do watch and enjoy. The Duggars are great. An American family at its very best.

Now I ask myself, what does it say when a fellow likes the glamour of Formula 1 and a fundamentalist Christian family from Arkansas, equally? Actually, there is a common thread here, those outside the South would not see it perhaps.



Man, the Duggars. They are great. We need more like them in this Republic.

It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American descent into Marxism is happening with breathtaking speed, against the backdrop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.

True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists.

Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters.

First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather then the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas then the drama in DC that directly affects their lives. They care more for their "right" to choke down a McDonalds burger or a BurgerKing burger than for their constitutional rights. Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our "democracy". Pride blinds the foolish.

Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different "branches and denominations" were for the most part little more then Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top protestant mega-preachers were more then happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the "winning" side of one pseudo-Marxist politician or another. Their flocks may complain, but when explained that they would be on the "winning" side, their flocks were ever so quick to reject Christ in hopes for earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America.

The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been record setting, not just in America's short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Weimar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe.

These past two weeks have been the most breathtaking of all. First came the announcement of a planned redesign of the American Byzantine tax system, by the very thieves who used it to bankroll their thefts, loses and swindles of hundreds of billions of dollars. These make our Russian oligarchs look little more then ordinary street thugs, in comparison. Yes, the Americans have beaten our own thieves in the shear volumes. Should we congratulate them?

These men, of course, are not an elected panel but made up of appointees picked from the very financial oligarchs and their henchmen who are now gorging themselves on trillions of American dollars, in one bailout after another. They are also usurping the rights, duties and powers of the American congress (parliament). Again, congress has put up little more then a whimper to their masters.

Then came Barack Obama's command that GM's (General Motors) president step down from leadership of his company. That is correct, dear reader, in the land of "pure" free markets, the American president now has the power, the self-given power, to fire CEOs and we can assume other employees of private companies, at will. Come hither, go dither, the centurion commands his minions.

So it should be no surprise, that the American president has followed this up with a "bold" move of declaring that he and another group of unelected, chosen stooges will now redesign the entire automotive industry and will even be the guarantee of automobile policies. I am sure that if given the chance, they would happily try and redesign it for the whole of the world, too. Prime Minister Putin, less then two months ago, warned Obama and UK's Blair, not to follow the path to Marxism, it only leads to disaster. Apparently, even though we suffered 70 years of this Western-sponsored horror show, we know nothing, as foolish, drunken Russians, so let our "wise" Anglo-Saxon fools find out the folly of their own pride.

Again, the American public has taken this with barely a whimper...but a "freeman" whimper.

So, should it be any surprise to discover that the Democratically controlled Congress of America is working on passing a new regulation that would give the American Treasury department the power to set "fair" maximum salaries, evaluate performance and control how private companies give out pay raises and bonuses? Senator Barney Franks, a social pervert basking in his homosexuality (of course, amongst the modern, enlightened American societal norm, as well as that of the general West, homosexuality is not only not a looked-down-upon life choice, but is often praised as a virtue) and his Marxist enlightenment, has led this effort. He stresses that this only affects companies that receive government monies, but it is retroactive and taken to a logical extreme, this would include any company or industry that has ever received a tax break or incentive.

The Russian owners of American companies and industries should look thoughtfully at this and the option of closing their facilities down and fleeing the land of the Red as fast as possible. In other words, divest while there is still value left.

The proud American will go down into his slavery with out a fight, beating his chest and proclaiming to the world, how free he really is. The world will only snicker.

Democrats

Now in some ways, even many ways, I do not like posting this. My grandfather McCain was a Democrat, through and through too. I have a card sent from Lady Bird Johnson to him, in return for a condolence letter he sent her family upon the passing of President Johnson. I myself, have a photo of John and Jackie Kennedy, received after I wrote the White House circa 1962. And yes, I still like and love John Kennedy. But, be that as it may, let's face it now. The Democrats are now a pretty harsh bunch of socialist that don't respect our country nor the principals upon which we built it. So in that happy-go-lucky vain, I post this video, which is positively delicious and more on target now than when it was filmed.

William F Buckley and Oxford

I met William F Buckley once, if you can count nodding your head and saying hello to a fellow as 'meeting' him. It was in Oxford, in the early 1990s, himself was here filming his sublime television show, Firing Line. The meeting simple, I was walking on the south side of the Square, William F Buckley and his entourage were heading into a restaurant and I am tall, happened to catch his eye as we passed and I nodded and said hello.

I have several transcripts from Firing Line that I read and reread often. I just really enjoy them. They all are programs where Buckley interviewed Malcolm Muggeridge, and Saint Mugg is an entirely new subject which I must post on sometime soon. My favourite non fiction writer. I never tire of him.

Now today was 11 May, and our weather in Oxford was very much like late fall in Donegal. What's with that lads and lassies?

In my job, as observer of the nation, this morning I offer the above image and copy, sent to me in an email. Pretty much speaks for itself. Just where would Henry A Waxman stand in 1776... with George III, or with Thomas Jefferson. I think his words speak for themselves.

Ron Howard Anti Catholic

One wonders if Aunt Bee would not take a paddle to Opie, someone certainly needs to do so.

Opie, i.e. little Ronnie Howard, seems to have an obsessive hate of the Catholic Church. He can not help himself, like a junkie, his Catholic-hate brims over. Well, I was going to post a bit on this as I was in the past a fan of Ron Howard. I feel like I grew up with him. I must say my opinion of him has fallen and considerably. Is there something in the water on the Left Coast? Why to these seemingly normal people do these things? I found that William Donohue has already posted a very good piece on Opie's new attacks upon the Church. He states the case well, and I post it below.

The tag team of Dan Brown and Ron Howard would have the public believe that Galileo was a member of a secret society, the Illuminati, and that the group seeks revenge against the Vatican today because of the Catholic Church’s anti-science history. All of which is nonsense.

Galileo died almost 150 years before the Illuminati were founded on May 1, 1776. Yet Brown’s book says the secret society was founded in the 1500s, and the movie says the same. Even though Brown’s own website admits that the group was founded in 1776, he explicitly says that ‘It is a historical fact that the Illuminati vowed vengeance against the Vatican in the 1600s.’ Howard, for his part, has said in an interview that the Illuminati ‘were formed in the 1600s.'

So why do they lie? Because their goal is to paint the Catholic Church as the enemy of science, and what better poster boy to trot out than their favorite martyr, Galileo? The ultimate victim, Galileo’s alleged persecution is cited as proof of the Church’s war on reason.

Had it not been for the Catholic Church, the universities would have died during the Middle Ages. Had it not been for the Catholic Church, the Scientific Revolution would never have happened. After all, science did not take root in South America, Africa, the Middle East or Asia. In took place in Christian Europe.

Galileo was never imprisoned or tortured. His confinement to house arrest, though unwarranted, was more a function of his arrogance than his ideas: he persisted in presenting his ideas (taken from Copernicus, a Catholic scientist who was never punished) as scientifically accurate, something which scientists of his day scoffed at.

Why do Brown-Howard persist in their demonization of Catholicism?
