Is That All There Is?

Don't worry about Brown or Obama my friends. Relax, pet your cat tonight, give him the little bit of cream he longs for; and this is the reason I am Catholic.

Eh? Louis Armstrong, etc.

You all do know, that is Louis Armstrong on my last post. Surely you do? Do not say that you don't know that or I will have to threaten you.

You have not fallen so low as to forget who and what he is/was. surely not? I have a lot of 'young people' in my house; I am never surprised at the very depth of their ignorance. Do they know who Willie Mays or Mickey Mantle are? Schmo? How about pre Vatican II normalcy? Beyond them do you think. Do we need a poll? Right, we don't.

One does wonder. What a world, what a world. Stay tuned for part IV.

Louis, what can I say

To ease the pain, my laddies and lassies, I present this, in my humble way of course.

Meet Me In St Louis

Well for no other reason than you are all a bunch of pagans, and I in my ignorance are trying to save you all... I present this. Listen well, go rent the DVD and watch it. It's from the film, Meet Me In Saint Louis. (You should already know this if you are an American) A great American film, go rent it and watch it; or if your philistine movie shop does not have it, buy it on Amazon and watch it! Great film and shows you Judy Garland in her prime. Good stuff lads and lassies.

Daniel Hannan

This speech by Daniel Hannan, a Conservative MP from southern England, is sweeping around the world. It is the wind in the sail of a much abused ship, becalmed for 40 years, long in the Doldrums. Daniel Hannan is a rising voice of reason in Europe, which is a rare thing (in Europe).

The governmental madness, the sheer insanity, is implanted in Europe just as it is here, in what used to be our dear Republic. Spending money they don't have, stealing money from one group of citizens, to give it to another group of citizens; this can not last forever, it will end, implode, and when it does, I suspect it will be only too interesting for all of us.

A Passing

Well, I've been gone for awhile. A dear, dear, friend was killed in a car wreck on the evening of 13 March, and I frankly have not been able to get over it yet. I will be back later, perhaps. Just need time to heal.

The Heebie Jeebies

I use the word Heebie Jeebies a lot. I used it today and was asked about the term.... so yet another musical post for this lazy writer.

For What Died the Sons of Roisin

Donovan, or Donovan Leitch as the under 30 crowd likely know him, is a wonderful poet and songwriter. Many associate him with the 60s and the events of that odd decade (in which I grew to be a man in). The reality of Donovan's career is he is still one of the driving forces in the arts to this day among those who like real music and poetry. Donovan is an interesting man in many ways, a Scot and a Celt, who has lived for a very long time in Ireland now and one of the very points of light on the planet. His reading of the poem For What Died the Sons of Roisin, by Luke Kelly is magnificent and never has a poem been so true as this one.

Ultimate Southern Band

Well... you just never know what you'll find on You tube. Now, this is John Denver, with Johnny Cash on rhythm guitar, Roger Miller on fiddle, Glen Campbell on banjo, and John on vocals and guitar. Amazing what you can find on the internet. What a band.

Back When The World Was Real
