Yesterday, Thursday the 28th of August, Governor Haley Barbour declared a state of emergency in Mississippi, due to the impending threat from Tropical Storm Gustav. Yes, that's a first, declaring a state of emergency before a potential event happens. I have noticed electric power trucks on the highway here in Oxford, heading south and I am told bookings are up in our little town's hotels. So people really did learn a lesson from Katrina.
Rest assured that from my vantage point, in a little hollow between the hills, here in north Mississippi, I will give updates as needed. Hurricanes in the South have turned into interesting events.
